The Problem
Newsrooms wanted to use AI to accelerate content production, but every tool they tried produced output that sounded generic — clearly AI, clearly not them.
The brief: build an AI content tool that actually sounds like the publication using it. That meant designing not just the generation interface, but the entire system through which editorial identity gets captured and applied.

Product Walkthrough
Publications Home
A unified home for every publication. Writers see their work, editors see team velocity, managers see output — all in one view.
Writing Editor
AI tools surface contextually in a panel beside the editor — never interrupting the writing flow. The cursor stays in the document; the AI stays to the side.
AI Generation
Select a passage, pick an action. The AI generates in the voice of the publication — not generic output. One click to accept, one to regenerate.
Brand Voice
Each publication defines its own tone, style, and vocabulary. The AI inherits it. Content sounds like the publication, not like a prompt template.
Content Library
Every article in one searchable view. AI-generated drafts are clearly labelled. Published, in-review, and draft states at a glance.
Editorial Review
Editors leave threaded comments directly on the article. Writers see exactly what needs addressing. Resolved threads collapse; open ones stay visible until signed off.
Analytics
Publication-level performance at a glance — total views, article output, AI-assist rate, and top pieces. Editors can see which AI-assisted articles perform versus manual ones.
Integrations
One-click publish to WordPress, Ghost, or Webflow. Slack notifications on approvals. The tool slots into existing newsroom workflows rather than replacing them.

Design Decisions
AI stays in the panel, not the document — Early explorations put AI inline (like Notion AI). Testing showed it broke writing flow. Moving it to a persistent side panel kept writers in their document.
Brand Voice as a first-class object — Most AI tools have a system prompt buried in settings. We made Brand Voice a named, configurable entity per publication — with sliders, tags, and a live preview. It became the product's differentiator.
Clear AI labelling — Content library shows which articles are AI drafts. No hiding it. Editors appreciated the honesty; it reduced anxiety about AI replacing them.
